On Tuesday 10th March 2020, Spalding United played Chasetown in the final home league game of the season before covid hit. A 0-3 loss was watched by 94 spectators. Once again the Tulips supporters travelled in large numbers hoping to keep their title challenge alive in Cambridgeshire with a visit to St Ives Town . In the first half it was hard to believe that the hosts had lost their last 9 games as we struggled to contain the black and white shirts who looked fully committed to the cause . In all fairness to Royston Town with the recent bout of wet weather they have managed to get games on, the surface was not great but we needed to get 3 points as we travelled to Hertfordshire, after a first half to forget we coped much better second half going down the slope with the breeze behind us, Royston rock bottom of the table had given a good account of themselves but when Yusifu Ceesay drilled the ball home on the hour us Tulip fans breathed a bit easier.
