On Saturday 17th August, The Tulips made the long trip to Bromsgrove, hoping to improve on their previous poor showing at Kettering a few days earlier. Staino returned to the starting line and Breeden captained the side, with Lewis Darlington joining Winters up front. Danny Draper also came back into the side, in Central midfield. However, the changes to the side didn't improve the performance against a limited Bromsgrove side. The home side took the lead with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. A delicate chipped ball over the Spalding defence found the Bromsgrove striker in acres of space in the box and he slotted past Breeden. Spalding had a brief spell after half time where Darlington tested the keeper and Winters headed a good chance wide from a corner. On the hour mark, Bromsgrove won a penalty after Staino was adjudged to have handled a cross even though his arm was across his midrift. The penalty was tucked away into the corner with the Tulips rarely threatening afterwards. Sam Warburton was sent off late on after picking up 2 yellow cards and Spalding were left pointless from their first 2 away games of the season.
The Tulips now face title favourites AFC Telford at the Sir Halley Stewart on Saturday.
