Another Tuesday evening on the road for our Tulip supporters and another mid-week trip to Derbyshire.
An eventful FA Cup replay saw plenty of action….a missed goal by the officials, an ET goal for the tulips, a late goal from the hosts, and a retaken penalty shot! The Tulips narrowly missed out on the win during penalties against Step 2 side Alfreton Town but nothing can take away from their absolutely outstanding performance and commitment to the match in hand.
The Tulips certainly put everything they had into the replay fixture, Staino didn’t miss a header all evening (and encountered another cut to the head!) and the team powered through a strong Alfreton side.
A truly special moment for the fans came when Sam Bennett had secured the first goal of the evening during extra time, the whole team (including Breeden who made his way to the opposite end of the pitch) and Jimmy celebrated directly in front of fans… an incredible moment and once again proved how much this means to the team, management and the fans alike.
A fantastic performance and effort from all, even if it wasn’t the result we hoped we’d be taking home with us.
Saturday see’s us back to league action and hopefully to secure a well-deserved win.
All in all, one sentence can sum up Tuesday evening…. PROUD TO BE A TULIP!
