A crowd of just under 500 left disappointed after a fourth home league defeat, it could have been so different having had the best of the first 30 minutes. Hilliard with two great chances and Tomlinson a constant threat a goal looked likely but never came.
Jack Robert’s then rattled the Tulips cross bar before scoring his first, Breeden slow off his line allowed the forward to poke it home on 37 min. Worse was to come when the same player scored the best goal of the game cutting in from the right and whipping past the helpless Breeden in first half added on time.
A fast start was needed after the break but we never really got going, the visiting keeper constantly dropping on the ball and taking forever to re-start the game frustrated the home fans. Bart headed over when we’ll place before Sembie-Ferris finally got the goal and hopes raised on 72 min unfortunately, it was short lived, Lawlor this time guilty of giving the ball away and Stortford made us pay another counter attack, Robert’s again easily beating Breeden to complete his hat trick.
