A rain soaked April day was the last time the home supporters was able to watch the Tulips at the Sir Halley Stewart. Ground improvements meant 6 pre season friendlies 7 league games and an FA Cup tie all to be played away. But on Saturday all that changed, Alfreton the visitors was we ready? You bet we was! Jimmy's new look Tulips didn't let the occasion get the better of them, playing on the new surface for the first time a 2 goal half time lead was nothing but well deserved. Bart Cybulski, who bagged a hat trick at Kettering in mid week, was on target again, first on 38 minutes after a sublime cross from Jack Roberts then on 45 minutes tapped in after a double save from keeper Willis.
Alfreton a league higher offered very little, Jimmy's game management was spot on second half protecting that lead and when fresh legs were introduced from the bench Jordan Nicholson scored the third after a terrific run and cross from Ceesay down the left.
A big day for the club and a huge win, Mondays draw saw us get another home tie this time either Bedford Town or Dagenham & Redbridge will be the visitors. Hopefully another big crowd and that Tulips roar will help get our boys in blue another win .......
