From Top Field to Garden Walk...

From the Hitchin Top field Saturday to The Garden Walk on Tuesday night as we travelled to Royston Town.

Jimmy made 3 changes to the starting 11 reverting to 3 at the back. Early goals for us are a collectors item this season but birthday boy Bart changed that after 6 mins scoring after good approach play. The tall striker was involved again blocking an attempted clearance this time Jordan Nicholson was on hand to poke it passed the keeper on the half hour, the goal scorer, who had looked lively, had to be replaced shortly after with an injury and replace by Tomlinson.

Referee, Fabio Roque, who had not been great in the first period made the second half all about himself, on 48min he produced his first of 3 red cards Lievins challenge on Glenn Walker, who after treatment was able to carry on. On 60 minutes he evened it up, no more than a coming together between Kyle Barker and the Royston player saw our midfield man sent off. Connor Tomlinson thought he had sealed it on 70 min, his curling shot had the home keeper make a magnificent save to his left, Referee Roque who had not covered himself is glory all night, then produced a yellow card on 83 min to Conner Brown for asking if there was sufficient air in the ball! As the game continued, it wasn't until the linesman via the home supporters appeals called over the man in the middle to inform him the Tulips man was already on a caution, the 3rd red card was produced from his pocket.

Nicknamed the Crows, the hosts now with a man advantage poured forward but our boys stood firm and wasn't gonna let this one slip, as we went into added on added time the Crows were caught short at the back, Lamine Sherif who had been outstanding all night broke clear and calmly slotted in number 3, TULIPS TULIPS TULIPS chanted the small following of away support as we celebrated with the players our first points on the road.........By Paul Parkin
