Pirates sink the Tulips in season opener

Real Bedford the bitcoin boys was the first test for this season's title challenge, tipped by many to go well and unbeaten in pre-season this was going to be a tough encounter. Chappie was missing from the starting 11 with a knee injury replaced by James Dadge between the posts, the stand in stopper had very little to do for the first 45 minutes as us Tulips dominated. Jack Roberts should have scored when clean through but the young striker shot wide, he didn't miss however on 30 mins after a inch perfect pass from Connor Johnson, two more great chances came and went Roberts again shooting wide and McCammon guilty of not passing when Ceesay had a tap in. Time added on at the end of the first half saw Real Bedfords first clear chance Setchell easily beat Cashmore and a perfect cross was headed home by Evans, the game then was completely turnround within 5 min of the restart, this time down the left another perfect cross from Jones and the same player Evans volleyed home. Head shaking all round from the Tulips supporters we now had to start over, Jimmy replaced Bart with Clifton and again it was McGammon in the right place on 65 mins this time 6 yards out couldn't beat McGregor and Clifton missed the rebound. Roberts our biggest threat on the day was inches wide with a free kick and then sent in a delicious right wing cross which no blue shirt was anywhere near. Disappointed faces at full time all round was added to as Ben Hart left the field on crutches, plenty for Jimmy and his staff to deal with as next up is Harborough on Tuesday night at the BeeHive, hopefully a better outcome but we really need to start taking these chances......
