Puritans too good for the Tulips

Sitting in the clubroom pre match a Banbury supporter was telling me they have a better team this season and I’m sure we will give you a good game today he said. The guy wasn't wrong because from the start the home team swarmed all over us, Ben Hart returned to the starting 11 switching Sembie Ferris to the left replacing the injured Ceesay. The full back was exposed as early as 5 minutes as Lawson danced his way into the box and finished well, Josh McGammon had a great chance to level it up straight after but delayed his shot and the chance went begging. Banbury always looked the more dangerous going forward and when James Alabi who had Bondswell a torrid time all half curled a beauty in the far corner on 31 minutes. It could have got worse before the break Stokoe's free kick was turned round the post by Jones.
Jimmy replaced Lawlor with Curtis Thompson at half time to try and beef it up but the game was over on 55 minutes this time Flanagan on the end of another cross easily beating Jones, the Tulips back line looking at each other rather than what was in front of them! Jimmy made 3 subs from the bench….Clifton , Sani Sane and Nicholson who many travelling supporters suggested he should have been on from the start, the changes breezed new life into the front line Roberts scored from a quick taken corner, Johnson blazzed over from 6 yards out, if Sani Sane had sorted his feet out a tap in from great work by Nicholson would have made the scoreline respectable. The fourth goal, if you have not seen it, summed up our back five's performance on the day.
“A bad day at the office”….maybe so hopefully lessons learned and lets put it right Tuesday night as we travel to Bury Town….
