Roy Clark is 96 years young and having lived in Spalding all his life he still takes his seat in the main stand at home games, weather permitting.
Speaking to Roy at the home game v Alvechurch he told me his father first took him to games when he was only 7 years old!
His favourite game was in 1952, a FA Cup fixture against Peterborough United then a midland league side , a 6,973 crowd packed into the ground and saw the Tulips leading 2-0 with 10 minutes to play Posh however fought back and the game finished 2-2.
When asked about his favourite all time player, (and there are lots of them!) Roy chose local lad Nick Keeble who's first season was 1990/1 season he went on to make over 500 appearances for the club. As for his current favourite player, he didn't hesitate in telling me it was Nathan Stainfield, who gave him enormous pleasure watching him lift the league title trophy back in April.
We hope you enjoyed your birthday celebrations Roy, and look forward to seeing you at our next home fixture.
