Three much needed points earned by us Tulips in what was very challenging conditions on Saturday (7th December) against Barwell. Kicking towards the town end first half, with the wind behind us we made the worst possible start, a deflected shot fell very kindly for Riley Maloney who easily beat Breeden on 3 minutes. We didn't have to wait long however for the equaliser on 7 minutes, big Bart ended his goal drought stabbing the ball home! Despite the swirling wind the boys in blue started to play some decent football and on 23 min took the lead, the impressive Nathan Fox whipped in a free kick from the right which evaded a crowded 6 yard box and ended up in the net. Lamine Sherif recalled by Jimmy crashed one against the bar 2 minutes later as the Tulips piled on the pressure. Running into the gale second half was always going to be tough but a high line and 11 battling blue shirts was never going to give this up. Big Tony tipped an effort on to the post following a free kick on 56 mins which was the one chance the visitors had second half. A host of players could have been named as Man of the Match, Bart, Joesph, Lamine, Lawlor - all excellent on the day but stand in captain Liam Moore, who never look troubled from minute one to minute ninety, justified took the award.
